The DEiNFORMER® Reader Promotion in FIDELITY MAGAZINE No. 21

- summarized by Helmut Hack, February 2016/excerpts from the article -

"The overwhelming majority noticed a difference." "Overall, our readers' experiences—with a solid three-quarters majority—lean toward the positive. They are convinced of both the cleaning effect and the improvement in sound quality."

Probably never before has a sip of water caused such a stir as the contents of the DEiNFORMER® samples did in cleaning and process water… which we sent to numerous readers following our call for test results in FIDELITY No. 21.

In his methodical listening report, Thomas I. notes “better sound localization and speech intelligibility” as well as a “wider dynamic range.”

Christoph L. describes, with unabashed enthusiasm, the increase in dynamics, spatial depth, musicality, and emotionality; individual elements such as voices or strings seem to stand out more clearly to him.

Rainer G. followed the instructions and immediately performed a second cleaning after the initial one. As a result, he observed a strong “lotus effect”—that is, the droplets simply beaded off—an example of the successful protective effect of DEiNFORMER®

Ms. R. seems to be an intense and analytical listener:
DEiNFORMER® made it easier for her to follow individual instruments simultaneously and to perceive the music “as a whole” more clearly. She had “a lot of fun”—something that’s often overlooked during test listening sessions—and, on top of that, a clear conscience. One of the few letters that also acknowledged the ecological aspect of DEiNFORMER®.

One reader “wanted to find it somewhat ineffective,” but had to honestly admit that LPs and CDs sound “fresher and more present” after the treatment. Don’t worry, Mr. D.—you’re not alone in that impression.

Wladlen B. (Mastering Engineer) first “ripped” CDs without treatment—and then treated them (using high-quality methods)—and was able to determine from the audio files that the treated CD sounded “less distorted and more rhythmic,” while the untreated one sounded “sluggish and dull.”

Frank J.—On a partially scratched record, the scratches seemed “less pronounced” to him after treatment.

A woman who “enjoys listening to music” but has no interest in hi-fi was able to perceive the improvement in sound quality on CDs just as much as her husband.

Andrea S. took a simpler approach: She played Bob Marley for a control group of three people… all three felt they were experiencing more nuanced timbres. “The change is striking!”

Helmut Hack (Fidelity) 2016: “Probably never before has a sip of water caused such a stir as the contents of the DEiNFORMER® samples. The overwhelming majority noticed a change. Overall, our readers’ experiences lean toward the positive by a solid three-quarters majority. They are convinced of both the cleaning effect and the improvement in sound quality!”
