Michael Probst, a passionate high-end enthusiast with extensive experience
& musician—writes the following after applying the DE method to his audio sources and components:
The effect on audio sources:
- The soundstage becomes clearer and wider
- The bass comes across as more substantial and lively; the soundstage becomes wider
- The soundstage closes in and gains depth; the overall sound impression feels more “lifelike”
- The overall sound “settles in”
- The effect persists over time
- The quality of the recording comes through more clearly
The effect on my equipment (Mac Elektronik & Myro/Thiel speakers)
- The soundstage is clearly extended in depth
- The clarity and transparency of the vocals increase; the harshness naturally diminishes
- Significantly greater balance
- The overall effect of the technology increases over time and becomes exponentially greater
Holger Wilhelm, a veteran of the industry—developer and manufacturer of the tonetool drives, which have been well-known since the 1980s—says we are expressly permitted to quote him; we are happy to do so here: “DEiNFORMER® is the most innovative development in 30 years.”
From a recording of a conversation with a very well-known editor of a very well-known magazine (who does not wish to be named/cannot be named/is not allowed to be named...): The DE-Informer DISK has a relaxing effect on everyone involved. First, it affects the surface of the CD and, consequently, is clearly audible in the sound quality. The sound gains transparency, while at the same time a sense of calm settles over the entire soundscape. The expression appears less agitated, yet remains very fluid, making it easier to hear through—almost three-dimensional. And all of this without becoming thinner, as the energy balance remains unchanged. The power—even in the bass, for example—is preserved. Irregularities are smoothed out but not glossed over. Everything takes its natural position, both spatially and musically—or rather, returns to its original state. Any veil has vanished—even the one you thought wasn’t there at all; you’ll be surprised.
Testimonial from a highly renowned Munich piano builder regarding his grand piano (Steinway): “...I decided to use the special DE-Informer for upright and grand pianos to further enhance the sound of my instrument, simply because I was curious.
Appearance: First, I achieved a beautiful high-gloss finish. Smudges and fingerprints disappeared effortlessly. The surface, which I had already found beautiful, gained an enormous increase in depth of field. Visitors, to whom I said nothing, praised the cleanliness and luster of the grand piano. Interior Cleaning: I sprayed a high-quality microfiber cloth and wiped down all the (internal) parts. This was quite complicated in some areas, as there is hardly any space under the strings, for example. I also wiped down the strings themselves with it.
The sound: I found the change in tone—which actually did occur—to be enormous. After a short playing period, which served as a warm-up, the sound unfolded with a previously unheard-of openness. The instrument now responds much more nimbly, resulting in improved dynamics. Even at pianissimo, the grand sounds clear, bright, and yet warm. At loud fortissimo, the threshold at which it would otherwise overdrive is now set much higher.
The evenness of the sound is also remarkable. Previously, there were always spots where the grand sounded a bit thin. These are now much more balanced with the rest of the sound. The sound is more spacious and enveloping than before. I no longer sit merely “in front of” the instrument, but rather feel as if I’m “inside” it. It hasn’t lost its beloved quirks; rather, they seem to have been enhanced while also forming a greater unity. The sound carries better in every respect. It’s also interesting to note the reactions of friends and the tuner, who—even though they aren’t in on the details—have noticed a beautiful development in the grand piano. Whereas it used to be tuned more to my playing style, others can now handle it much better and shape their own individual sound more effectively. It’s now closer to a more universal standard.
Mr. W (recording studio owner, musician, and composer): The fundamental range of the music has gained a clearer and deeper foundation—which does not mean that the lower frequencies are “boosted,” but rather that, on the one hand, lower frequencies are now reproduced than before, and on the other hand, a more natural ratio between fundamentals and overtones has emerged. As a result, the elements of the music (various instruments and sounds) gain more individual character and recognizability. This brings the recorded music closer to the listening experience of live music. At the same time, individual sound events are reproduced more accurately, which is evident in more precise attack and decay characteristics and, overall, leads to a cleaner, more open, and less “phased” soundstage, resulting in not only better transparency but also more nuanced fine dynamics. This results in a higher degree of fundamental tranquility, which goes hand in hand with greater spatial depth, improved localization, and depth gradation of the individual elements, leading to better musical flow and greater temporal accuracy.
Harry Helmig (hi-fi consultant for 40 years) after using it with DVD/Blu-ray in several blind tests together with his customers: “The first test blew me away right away! Both the soundtrack and the slight image grain improved—especially the sound! Even more striking than with CD/LP. I couldn’t believe my ears! The sound as a whole is more spacious and dynamic—how is that possible? Blu-ray—*Tribute to Bruce Springsteen* > more powerful sound, more nuanced and spacious; DVD—*Six Days, Seven Nights* (Harrison Ford) > more detailed picture, more powerful sound; Peter Gabriel: Back to Front > greater differentiation, greater dynamics. With an audio CD that’s about 30 years old, my customer Werner S. described the result as “sensational.”
Collaboration in May 2016 with the “hifideluxe” trade show, the parallel event to HighEnd at the Marriott Munich. The trade show organizer had this year’s trade show CD sampler “de-informed” in our lab. Our technology is being used for the first time on an entire CD pressing!
DEiNFORMER® technology enables maximum sound expression through increased information exchange during the sampling process. As a result, you experience the “unlocking of the sound carrier’s full sonic potential.” The CD is available for purchase every day of the trade show at the organizer’s booth in the foyer.
Our customers include record labels, sound engineers, musicians, manufacturers, and private hi-fi enthusiasts who seek maximum enjoyment, consistent richness of sound, and pure naturalness with a live feel. With our technology, we “de-inform” devices, speakers, cable sets, instruments, and even entire recording studios. As “functional water” for use at home, authentic reproduction without distorting the original is now possible.
The Source of Sound: Maximum sound expression always depends on the degree to which sound sources and individual devices can communicate with one another. A chain is only as good as its weakest link. If the beginning isn’t right, the result is arbitrary! And “arbitrary” cannot be a definition of sound. What cannot be fully communicated cannot be heard as sound. Discover the hidden potential of your audio sources.
The DEiNFORMER® technology has made it possible to fully unlock the sound capabilities of this sound carrier.
