Comparison of Butz Water (MIPS Factor = 0)

Butzwasser™ in Comparison

Comparisons with cleaning products from the organic, eco-friendly, and conventional chemical cleaning industries are completely unnecessary. These products all use different substances in their formulations, often have corrosive properties, and all lead to faster re-soiling.  This is due solely to their manufacturing process and is easily explained in biophysical and chemical terms. You can’t compare apples to oranges.
All of these cleaning products have a MIPS value a hundred times higher than that of Butzwasser

Butzwasser™ cannot be compared to anything. At best, a weak comparison could be made with distilled, demineralized water.  This has a MIPS value of 8, while Butzwasser has a value of 0!

MIPS = The abbreviation MIPS stands for Material Input per Service Unit. MIPS is a measure of the natural resource consumption of a product or service throughout its entire life cycle, from cradle to grave.  (Extraction, production, use, disposal/recycling).

Environmental impact compared to demineralized water.

The environmental impact according to MIPS (Material Input per Service Unit) for the production of 1 liter of deionized and demineralized cleaning water is eight (8) times more harmful than for the production of 1 liter of cleaning water using Butzwasser™  from Humanum (factor 0) — (7 drops of Butzwasser™ per 1 liter of tap water)

Butzwasser™ is produced for commercial use (e.g., Solarbutzwasser, etc.) from tap water. For the private sector, it is also produced from deionized water so that it is and remains more bacteriologically stable. That is the only reason. The first batch of Butzwasser™, produced about 20 years ago, is still functionally stable.

The mixing ratio of Butzwasser™ in use: 7 drops of Butzwasser™ to approximately 13,000 drops of tap water (1 liter). (Ratio 1 : 1857) Quotient: 0.0037.

We’ll leave the packaging aside for now.

Corrosion

The corrosive effect of demineralized water is demonstrable; with Butzwasser™, however, no corrosive effect is detectable at the recommended dosage!

Mass loss (ion leaching) can be determined gravimetrically and spectrophotometrically when cleaning with demineralized water. Mass loss during cleaning with Butzwasser™ is at the limit of detection.

The associated problem of corrosion is well known in the scientific community and has been documented by numerous examples.

One important study concerns the effects of ultrapure water on mineral glass. (Rizzato, Santilll, Pulcinelli, Messaddeq, Craievich, Hammer, “Study on the initial stages of water corrosion of fluorozirconate glasses,” in: Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, vol. 348, pp. 38–43).

The corrosive effect is confirmed by Clark/Zoitos (eds.), “Corrosion of Glass, Ceramics, and Ceramic Superconductors,” 1991, p. 69.

No surface damage!

With Butzwasser™, all household items—such as wine glasses, valuable tea sets, valuable kitchenware, valuable instruments, valuable furnishings, and much more—are not subject to corrosion or surface damage. The only issue is moisture on various materials when moisture is used improperly.

Experience shows that re-soiling increases after cleaning with demineralized cleaning water, meaning that cleaning intervals must be extended.  When cleaning with distilled water, no increase in recontamination is observed; cleaning intervals can be reduced, depending on environmental parameters.

Gloss measurement according to DIN 67530

After cleaning with demineralized water compared to Butzwasser™, surfaces become rougher. Gloss measurements also confirm this. This effect is virtually undetectable with Butzwasser™.

In our experience, the corrosive effect can also be quantitatively determined by measuring the roughness of glass surfaces. This roughness leads to increased particle adhesion from ambient dust. This explains the increased recontamination after cleaning with demineralized water!

Photoelectric measurement of light reflection at specific angles of incidence, compared to a reference scale. The reflectometer’s measuring principle is based on measuring the total reflection of light that strikes the sample at angles of 20°, 60°, and 85° and is reflected back by the sample at the same angle. The higher the reflection as a percentage of the incident light, the higher the gloss.

Gloss measurements showed that cleaning with Butzwasser™ resulted in higher light reflection than cleaning with demineralized cleaning water.   The gloss level was higher after cleaning with Butzwasser™ than after cleaning with demineralized water. We consider this gloss measurement in conjunction with the roughness of the cleaned surface. The rougher the surface, the lower the light reflection.

Butzwasser™, when used with linen cloths or microfiber cloths, removes the most common types of household dirt. Microporous surfaces, such as desks, doors, and cabinet surfaces, are no problem. With an application concentration of 4 drops in a 500-ml spray bottle, these types of dirt can normally be removed without leaving any residue.

Compared to cleaning products containing surfactants, significantly fewer residues and streaks (methodological errors) were observed!

Conclusion

Butzwasser™ has a similar range of effectiveness as “commercially available, biological, ecological, and chemical” cleaning agents. As with any cleaning agent, there are limits to its effectiveness. Due to the absence of any active ingredients, surface damage can be largely ruled out. Only particles present on the surface to be cleaned can cause damage if improper cleaning techniques are used. This is then due to the handling and cleaning technique employed.

Butzwasser™ is a recommended product for reasons of environmental protection, occupational health, and preserving the value of surfaces.
